In what has been an otherwise season to forget for Rangers, one bright spark over the horizon has been the emergence of winger Barrie McKay as a real top-level performer on his day.
While consistency levels have been his biggest drawback the 22-year-old has impressed in certain games and shown he is the one player at Ibrox just now capable of exciting the fans and making things happen.
In the Old Firm game just before the winter break he was unplayable for 45 mins and gave the Celtic defence a torrid time all by himself- then again he was a stand-out in the January friendly match against RB Leipzeg.
And last night we seen a timely return to the kind of form that seen him linked with a £6 million move to the Bundesliga high-flyers.
Thoughts are with this St Johnstone defenders family.
