New Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has already made his first two signings despite not officially taking up the role until June.
The former Liverpool midfielder and current youth coach has used his contacts at Anfield to help him snap up one-time Celtic target Dominic Solanke and on-loan Bolton star Jon Flanagan.
Highly rated forward/winger Solanke will be Gerrard’s Marquee signing and will join the club on a season-long loan deal.
The 10-million rated 20-year-old came through the ranks at Chelsea and has already been capped in the full England squad.
Jon Flanagan will join on a permanent deal after completing a short loan deal at Bolton Wanderers.
The right back earned three England caps after bursting on to the scene under Brendan Rodgers five years ago but after some off the field issues, including an assault conviction in January this year, and Liverpool’s current form he found it hard to get a place in the team.
The 25-year-old now see’s Ibrox as the perfect place to resurrect his career under his former skipper.
Our sources understand that both players will be announced on June 1st to coincide with Gerrard’s first day in charge.
Would you be happy with these two signings as a starting point for Gerrard at Ibrox ? Let us know in the comments.
