A teenage rapist has been jailed for 5 years after texting one of his victims admitting to the sordid act he committed while out on bail for a similar attack.
The 15-year-old from Cumbernauld attacked two teenage girls, a 13 year old in December 2015 before a second attack on a 15 year old only a few months later despite already being charged with the first assault.
The boy- who cannot be named for legal reasons- initially denied the Cumbernauld attacks but during his trial in Edinburgh it came to light that he had texted the older victim saying "I have raped you and can't live with myself".
At his sentencing in the Glasgow High Court, Lord Kinclaven told the young rapist he had been found guilty of serious charges and that there was no alternative but to lock him up.
The judge also ordered the teenager to be monitored for two years after his release and said he would be added to the sex offenders register.
Recent figures released show a massive increase in sexual assaults and harassment taking place in schools throughout the country.
Some commentators have blamed the rise on more easily accessible porn and young men building up a warped view of girls due to the over sexualised image
