CASTLEMILK SHOOTING: One man dead and another seriously injured after shoot-out during gang fight.

A 23-year old has died after a double shooting in the south side of Glasgow during a 12 man gang fight.

In scenes like something more like the wild west or a housing project in Chicago gun shots filled the air as warring families took to the streets for a mass brawl.

Another man is still in hospital in a critical condition.

In a statement the police said.

“A murder inquiry is underway after a man who was seriously injured in a large scale disturbance in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow last night, Saturday 8 July 2017, died a short time ago within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The 23-year-old man was one of six men injured during the disturbance which occurred around 2000 hrs last night near a play area at Ballantay Terrace in Castlemilk. A 25-year-old man remains in a serious condition in hospital.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Fergus at Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team is leading the Inquiry, he said:

“It is vital that we trace everyone involved in this incident.

“Anyone with information that could assist our investigation is urged to contact police at Helen Street, Govan immediately quoting incident number 3874 of 8 July.”

Alternatively calls can be made via Crimestoppers where anonymity can be maintained.”

The man has been named locally as Jamie Lee, known as YL.
